Who Knew

Have you ever owned, rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the gas station wondered which side the gas filler is on?

Have you ever stuck your head out the window?

Tried to see in the side mirrors?

Gotten out of the car?

Driven up to the pump, only to get back in your car and relocate to another pump because you forgot what side it was on?

Here is a little known, trick to save you the embarrassment of looking like a complete doofus.

If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump?

See the little arrow that is pointing to the left?
That means your filler is located on the left side of the car.
If it is pointing to the right, the filler is on the right.

Now, I can't guarantee that you will find this on your 1974 Plymouth Fury or your 1982 Ford Escort.

I'm not sure if this is true in England, Russia, Sao Paolo or Morrocco. (so get off my back all of you international peeps) But most modern cars driven in the US have this indicator.

Did you know??

Did you go out and check your car? Did you?

  1. I did NOT know that. Nor did I know there was an arrow. Nor am I getting up to go outside and look right this second. But I promise I will look soon. Maybe in second, because the more I think about it, the more curious I am. Sheesh, okay, I am getting up and looking.

  3. I did not know. I can't tell you how many times I have driven up the wrong side. My car and MHS's truck are opposites. (I'm not a complete idiot) I think...
Now I have to go check my car to see if it mine has that indicator. Who knew! Thanks.

  4. Funny! I was just thinking that the other day when I saw a person get out of their car, only to have to get IN again because the gas tank was on the wrong side from where they were going to pump gas!!! :)

    Totally funny!
